Zoe Saldana is the child of Asalia Saldana and Aridio Nazario. Zoe was born in Passaic (New Jersey) on 19th June 1978. Her father was Dominican while her mother was Puerto Rican. Her family was from Queens, New York. In 2010, she moved with her family to the Dominican Republic where they spent the next 7 years. Zoe found a great passion for dancing while living abroad. Her first training was with the ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy to study ballet as well as many different dance styles. Apart from giving a place to express creativity for young people who are enthusiastic and passionate the dance lessons she received would prove to be a key factor to her first professional career as an actor. As a teenager, Zoe and her family moved back to her home in the United States where her love for dancing continued and her enthusiasm for theater performances grew greater. Zoe is not just able to hold her own in major motion-picture productions, but also gained the respect and praise from industry professionals like Jerry Bruckheimer and Steven Spielberg and actors/actresses such as Tom Hanks, Bernie Mac, Keira Knightley, Ashton Kutcher, Kirsten Dunst and Orlando Bloom. Many of Zoe's co-stars and producers feel that the sky is not her limit. She has a wide range of talents, extreme focus, and the unwavering ability to tackle projects that have diverse subject matter and characters.
